Surf Expo January 2012

Saturday was THE day for us at the first Surf Expo 2012!! Due to our work schedules, we had but one chance to meander through hundreds of vendors at this twice a year event.  Well, 'meander' may be a kind, gentle way of saying, we booked it through this event, we didn't have much of a choice.  While we arrived at the Orange County Convention Center by 11am, the Expo was to end by five, which, if you've ever attended an event of this magnitude, you know that six hours does not give you much time. Fortunately for us, the Surf Expo was housed in the north end of the Convention Center, and the event planners had switched things up a bit from the past few years.  We always begin on the right hand side of the room, which we did this time as well, but to our surprise, all of the surf stuff was right there, normally all of the things you'd find in a tourist shop is located up front and all the really cool stuff is in the back. Loved the way they did things this year!! We met some pretty awesome people who were peddling new products to make beach life a bit easier.  The old standby's were there of course, but it was encouraging that in this economy a spirit of creativity was evident. Great News!!  SeaBabes will  feature a swim line this year beginning in the spring on our new website.  We've been wanting to do this for some time, and now that we met with the actual designer, we feel confident offering this particular line to you.
We rounded out our day checking out the SUP (stand up paddle) displays. Boy has this sport EXPLODED!!  There are some beautiful boards out there and my curiosity got the best of me as we asked around for some information on the specifics of SUP.  We just happened to run into Heather Baus, the number 2 female SUP champion, she was more than happy to give us some tips and advice, you can check her website: heatherbaus.com, be sure to read her bio, she is one ambitious woman!! Well, that about wraps it up for Surf Expo/ January 2012, we're now looking forward to Surf Expo/ September 2012, who knows, maybe "SeaBabes Apparel" will be found among the vendor population!!
